First time in Szczecin: Christian Tetzlaff

Béla Bartók’s Violin Concerto no. 2 was composed in the late 1930s for the young violinist Zoltán Székely. It showcases not only the composer’s talent, but at the same time is a perfect occasion to present the skill of the soloist and the orchestra. What can be heard here are motifs from a czardas, fragments of a march, with also an unsettling and mysterious atmosphere to fascinate audiences.

Every year Christian Tetzlaff stands one hundred times before music lovers all over the world. During the last artistic season he performed in concerts halls in Leipzig, London, Paris, Tokyo and Vienna, to name just the most important ones.

Szczecin music lovers will listen to his unique interpretations of classics, with a wide range of hues, wild and unsettling at times. As Christian Tetzlaff says himself, his violin is far from the “banal Stradivarius”.

This soloist will be accompanied by the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra conducted by the artistic director of the Philharmonic, Rune Bergmann. The conductor has won the hearts of Szczecin music lovers with his enthusiasm and maverick approach to music.
